Faster, more powerful DIY Geologic Cross Sections

Faster, more powerful DIY Geologic Cross Sections

DIY geologic cross sections can be created from handwritten soil logging field notes or boring logs in under 15 minutes and can include the following graphics and information:

- Borehole IDs and lithology graphic columns

- Groundwater levels observed during and after drilling

- Boring depths, surveyed surface elevations, or Google surface elevation profile

- Fill and alluvium graphics displayed alongside lithology descriptions

- Graphical representations of auger refusal, cave depth, and proposed elevations

- Depth-related sampling data (e.g., blow counts, recovery %, RQD %, contamination data)

- Well or borehole construction details (riser, screen, seals, filter packs, backfill)

- Distances between borings (feet or meters)

- Aerial inset showing the cross-section line and borehole locations

- Legend and scale

- Title block with company logo, client name, project number, and site address

Cross Sections can be constructed from a straight line where borehole data are projected to the cross section line, or from a zigzag / point-to-point line.
